About

After more than forty-five years in the arts business, I hope I’ve accumulated some useful experience–enough, perhaps, to give me the occasional glimpse of the Whole Elephant!

Glasgow Evening Times; BBC Scotland; Dundee Rep, Northcote Theatre; ‘background artist’; Glasgow Herald; Third Eye Centre; Crawford Centre for the Arts; Scotland on Sunday; Edinburgh Printmakers; Scottish Arts Council; HI~Arts; Stills; Live Music Now Scotland–been there, done that, learned a bit.

I spent 2013-15 working as a freelance cultural consultant, under the banner of Kirkhill Associates, with projects ranging from Campbeltown to Mid Wales, and from Aberdeenshire to the Scottish Borders.

From 2015 until 2022 I was Chief Executive of Regional Screen Scotland, handing over the reins at the end of that year but staying on as advisor to my successor for a few months. As of July 2023 I have been fully retired and devoting myself to horticulture rather than culture.

Robert Livingston,

Kirkhill, Scotland.
